Which Baseball Team Will Surprise Us This Season?

Underdog stories are among the most exciting to share, and each time it happens in baseball, the fans go crazy. When the Cincinnati Reds took over the 1991 season by storm, it marked a landmark moment for many baseball enthusiasts. 

But those days are gone, and we are all looking at the 2020 season hoping that the status quo will be challenged. 

Rangers

The Rangers aren’t necessarily the most consistent team (statistically), but this is where they might gain an incredible advantage. The 2020 season will consist of just 60 games, and delivering an injury-free spring of high performance doesn’t seem that unlikely. 

The likes of Minor and Kluber might be the prominent figures this season. If they demonstrate the ability to lead by example and if Chirinos and Frazier handle the team’s defects, the Rangers might become the center of the next Cinderella story.

Blue Jays

The Blue Jays boast an amazing roster of young talent this season, which makes us wonder if they could make it to the play-offs. The recent examples of reassembled teams that skyrocketed to the postseason heights are the Pirates and the Clubs, who earned everyone’s respect in 2013 and 2015 respectively.

The Blue Jays might be the next entry on that list. Bichette and Guerrero Jr. are both promising position players. They are backed up by the pitching talent of Pearson and the starter prowess of Hyun-Jin Ryu, there are plenty of reasons to keep an eye on that team.

White Sox

2008 was the last year the White Sox contended in the play-offs, but we believe everything might change this year. The combination of young guns and old-school experience is a powerful mix to work with. 

The White Sox signed Grandal and Keuchel – and they also re-signed the invaluable Jose Abreu. Youth is represented by the names of Anderson, Moncada, Giolito, and others, which brings a lot of hope for the team as they unite into a singular unit of mastery.

Conclusion

We might be just throwing random guesses left and right, but we do believe that one of the above-mentioned teams might be reborn like a phoenix. But if we’re wrong, we’d be happy to witness any underdog defy everyone’s expectations.
