American Tyronn Lue will become the new head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers (NBA) club. So, the 43-year-old Lue will soon sign a five-year contract. As a team mentor, he will replace Doc Rivers. Last season, the Clippers occupied second place in the quarterfinal playoff series, the team was defeated by Denver (3-4). So, at the end of September, the Clippers fired Doc Rivers. As you remember, the dismissal of the 58-year-old coach followed after the Clippers lost the lead in the Denver Nuggets series and failed to reach the Western Conference finals.
Lue’s career path
Lue was Cleveland’s coach previously, which led to the team’s championship in 2016. Before that, he worked with Boston and Cleveland as an assistant. As a player, he won the NBA championship twice (2000, 2001) as part of the Los Angeles Lakers. As you can see, his achievements are impressive.
Players’ thoughts
There were rumors that players may not support a new coach. Fortunately, the entire team supports him, hoping that Tyronn Lue will help them to develop. Ex-NBA player Chauncey Billups will be Liu’s assistant.
