Over the last three seasons, the Vikings have worked very well with RB Dalvin Cook. Unfortunately for Minnesota, now their player wants to get much more than before. So what happened? Is Dalvin Cook blackmailing the Minnesota club or is he just demanding a decent salary for himself?

The Running back has announced that he will suspend his participation in team events until he receives an “adequate”, from Cook’s point of view, offer for a new contract with the franchise. Under the rookie contract, Dalvin will receive $ 1.3 million during the year.

According to ESPN, Cook hopes to sign a multi-year contract with a salary even higher than that of Christian McCaffrey of Carolina. McCaffrey is now the NFL’s highest-paid RB after signing a $ 64 million contract with the Panthers for four years.

The Minnesota club player has been good in the last three seasons, but not as productive as McCaffrey. Partly because of this, Cook decided to reduce his financial appetite and is now ready to sign a deal of 14-15 million a year. In that case, he will share with Ezekiel Elliott of Dallas second place in the league in average salary.

But the problem for Cook is that the Vikings don’t plan to pay him the desired 15 million. According to sports experts, Cook missed 19 matches in three years, so a long-term contract with him is not the most reliable investment. Also, running back’s are not paid much now because of the assessment of their value passes in the League.

According to unofficial sources, the sides may end up with talks of 12-13 million. In this case, Cook says he is ready to strike if the agreement is not signed before the start of the training camp with an acceptable amount in the contract.

Well, 24-year-old Dalvin understands how his colleagues feel – Ziki Elliott, Le’Veon Bell, Todd Gurley, Melvin Gordon, and David Johnson, who were the most important players for their teams, but, unfortunately, played the position of running back’s, where salaries are not growing as quarterbacks.

What do you think? Is it blackmail or is Cook defending the right to a decent salary? Write your opinion in the comments.
