With the 2020 Draft set and done, let’s examine the teams with the most winning potential heading into this year’s season.
San Francisco 49ers
The team had an overwhelming amount of injuries during the last season, most notably losing Kwon Alexander. Despite that, the 49ers still became the NFC West division winner, boasting an impressive record of 13-3.
The most important pick in the draft was Nick Bosa, who had been expected to become a part of the team from the very beginning. The top defensive pick is aimed to strengthen the defense of the 49ers, which was their weakest spot. With new talent and recovered players, San Francisco 49ers will become a force to be reckoned with.
The draft went according to plan for Baltimore. The winner of the AFC North division with 14 wins and 2 losses added Patrick Queen to improve the defense, as well as J.K. Dobbins as a running back, among other things.
Interestingly enough, Ravens did not add a wideout, which shows confidence in their current roster. Coming out of the disappointing Playoffs (a loss to Tennessee in the second round), the team has worked on its shortcomings, especially on the defensive side. As it is, the Baltimore Ravens are looking really strong.
Kansas City Chiefs
With the recent Super Bowl win under its belt, the team has been taking it slow. It seems like they like the current composition and want to stick to it, although the addition of Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Willie Gay was a promising improvement.
Still, with a championship roster led by the Super Bowl MVP Pat Mahomes perfectly synced to demolish any defence, it is unlikely that the Chiefs will have any trouble getting to this season’s Playoffs.
With some major shuffles and minor improvements, 2020 promises to be an exciting year for American football – if we fight-off the pandemic and make it happen, that is.
