Peter Laviolette hired as the Capitals coach.

As we know, Todd Reirden (former coach of the Washington Capitals) was fired about a month ago, so Peter Laviolette will be the new coach of this team. The Capitals didn’t show great performances last season, so there is hope the new coach will help the team to reach new heights.

According to Laviolette’s words, he was extremely excited to be given a chance to try coaching the Capitals. He said that his family also was extremely happy due to these changes. Laviolette underlined, that working with the Capitals meant working with a really great team with great players. He hoped that his experience would help him in his work.

Brian MacLellan (the Capitals general manager) said that his aim was to find an experienced coach, as he wanted to get the maximum from the team. His wish was to get more out of the veteran roster (Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson). According to MacLellan, Laviolette is a great communicator, an outstanding teacher, and a powerful motivator. Besides, he’s a very honest person, which will certainly help to find a common language with the team. His experience with different teams will also help him greatly.

Peter Laviolette’s career path

Laviolette has an impressive career, as he’s been working as a coach since 2001. He has worked with such well-known teams, like the Islanders, the Nashville Predators, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Philadelphia Flyers. With the Carolina Hurricanes, Laviolette won the Stanley Cup. Understandably, he had both ups and downs, but there were more successes than failures.

Laviolette and the Capitals seem to have become a successful tandem, as his vast experience will certainly help the team in its development.
