During the summertime, it’s necessary sometimes to forget about the heat for a moment and immerse into the world of ice sports. The movies about hockey are suitable for this goal, and we are presenting a few of them below. Though the subject is hockey, movies presented are different in terms of the message, and anyone can find something personal in them.

Miracle (2004)

The film was named after an actual event that took place during the 1980 Winter Olympics. The Soviet Union hockey team was considered the favorite, but they lost to the United States team, which mostly consisted of collegiate players. This is a movie about how the coach`s faith in victory can be transmitted to his mentees through the mouths of the grueling workout. Legendary coach Herb Brooks was excellently played by the legendary actor Kurt Russel. This is a movie about motivation, brotherhood, and resilience.

The Mighty Ducks (1992)

A rogue defense attorney Gordon Bombay is caught for drunk driving and sentenced to 500 hours of community service. His “service” is to be a coach of a junior hockey team. Fun fact is that this film commercial success was a reason for the Anaheim hockey team to be called the “Anaheim Ducks” by the Walt Disney Company initiative.

This isn’t just a movie about discipline and overcoming. Bombay is trying to train a team of future professionals and in the meantime, he’s fighting the spirits of the past that have tortured him through the years. It’s a superb film for father and son. Both generations can learn something from it.

Goon (2011)

This is more of a recreational comedy. This is a story of how a simple-minded but avuncular goon-guy with might in his fists becomes a part of a hockey team and is finally finding his place in this world. This men`s comedy is mandatory to watch in a company. Seann William Scott, known for playing Stiffler in American Pie, and Live Schreiber are knocking the spirit out one another right on the ice. What else do guys need to have fun?

 The Rocket (2005)

This French-Canadian biopic is about an epic hockey player Maurice “The Rocket” Richard. A good movie for the fans of good drama, in which a world-known player with a total record of 544 scored goals, has been severely injured and couldn’t go to war, had a conflict with NFL president Clarence Campbell, provoked a conflict between French-speaking and English-speaking Canadians, but still remained the best player of his era. If that is not enough for you to get interested, we don’t know what is.

Conclusion

We hope you can find a movie for yourself to watch and immerse into the world ice of sports, human destinies, and a victory of human nature over any upcoming circumstances. Comedy, drama, and biopic – anything to your liking is presented here.
