The NHL has quite a lot to show in terms of young talent. Today, we are going to dive in and explore the most promising young players who aren’t rookies.

What makes a skater promising? Well, it’s the fact of exceeding the average draft position – basically, the players who performed much better than they were expected.

Andrei Svechnikov

The 20-year-old sensation of the California Hurricanes has exploded this season. With 37 assists and 61 points, his stats are now almost double what they were during the last season. Andrei has also become the team’s first power-play, with power-play points going from five to a whopping 20!

Brady Tkachuk

Brady is also 20, and Brady is an impressive shooter. Before the season was put on hold, Tkachuk made over 200 hits. That stat, combined with 200 shots on goal, made him the number one shooter in the current season.

Brady knows how to put pressure on the opposite team. Overall, he scored 21 times last season and made 23 assists, confidently sitting in the top 30 of all players.

Shea Theodore

One of the most promising young players is Shea Theodore. He has been a prominent defender for quite a while now, but he truly shined during the last season. He scored 46 points for the Vegas Golden Knights, and his 13 goals and 219 accurate shots made him into one of the best defensemen in the NHL – at least in terms of statistics.

Tom Wilson

Another hitter, Tom Wilson, is helping launch the Washington Capitals to victories alongside Ovechkin. Tom made 253 total hits with 21 goals, which lands him in the NHL’s top 3 in that regard.

This season, Wilson has shown the best numbers in his professional career – 23 assists, 7 power-play points, and 44 total points. His physical play might be controversial, but this right-winger is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Conclusion

We’ve found our best players and those who showed outstanding results, but the NFL is such a rich playground for talent that we definitely missed a number of exciting skaters to follow.
