It’s not just the fans who look forward to another crazy fight between an MMA fighter and a boxing champion. After a vastly popular bout between Pacquiao and McGregor.

Returning to the Ring

One would think that McGregor would be hesitant to return to the boxing ring after facing a TKO defeat from Mayweather in the 10th round. But Connor doesn’t get discouraged easily.

The eccentric MMA figure said that not only was he ready to fight Pacquiao, but also the bout was in the talks back in January. It seems like both sides were interested. There was an offer on the table, at least according to McGregor.

The fight didn’t happen because “the timing wasn’t right”.

Dana White’s Response to the Rumors

McGregor said that he retired from MMA. That’s not the first time it happened, of course, but it seems like by making that claim the Irish icon made it clear that he aims to arrange another massive boxing fight.

Dana White, when asked about the rumors of the fight with Pacquiao, responded with an unequivocal “I don’t care about any of that s**t”.

Dana respects Connor, but his sole focus lies in the UFC.

Conclusion

The timing wasn’t right in January and it doesn’t seem like the fight will happen in the near future. It seems like the parties have reached a certain agreement regarding the deal and the numbers, but the COVID-19 situation doesn’t leave much room for the hype necessary to make the fight something everyone will look forward to.

But our predictions can be completely off.

The fight between McGregor and Pacquiao might be exactly what’s going to work in the current landscape. People don’t expect anything crazy, which is why the fight has a chance to stand out and become the fight of the year.
