The 180th event within UFC Fight Night was concluded on October 18. The headliner was a fight between two tough featherweights: Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung, more known in the Western world as the Korean Zombie. Let’s remind how it was.

A warm-up

The main card was opened with the fight of Thomas Almeida and Jonathan Martinez. We haven`t seen Almeida for a while. Almost three years has passed since this guy has stepped inside the cage. This is probably the reason why he was a bit off which helped Martinez take all three rounds and win by unanimous decision.

Coach still can

A short-notice bout between Claudio Silva and James Krause was won by the American fighter who was a foot taller than Silva in every aspect. There were no significant takedowns by Silva, but by the end of the bout, he landed a few good strikes in the stance. Though it didn`t help him take at least one round. James Krause won by a unanimous decision. It shows he`s good not only good in coaching but in fighting too.

Kind brutality

Young light heavyweights Jimmy Crute and Modestas Bukauskas gave us a fast fight. It took Crute 2 minutes and three nice punches to finish Bakauskas. What is even more surprising; shortly after the bell, the Australian sat down near the opponent and hugged him. It was a very touching ending.

3-division dominator

Jessica Andrade has not only performed in all three women divisions, she won in each of them. In the flyweight class, she met Katlin Chookagian whom she beat just 5 seconds before the 1st round came to an end. Two hard body shots shook Chookagian and she fell on the canvas. A clean knockout by Andrade, who seems to have all the chances to challenge the current flyweight champ, Valentina Shevchenko.

A grave for the Zombie

As for the main event, not many would predict what happened there before it actually did. After a two-year break, T-City Ortega returned and smashed the Korean Zombie both on the ground and in the stance. What`s more, just like Rodriguez, Ortega caught Zombie by the back elbow, though we know the Zombie can`t be knocked down such easily. He survived all 5 rounds, but Brian outplayed him in every aspect and thus won by the unanimous decision. No mistake, he`s fighting the champ Alex Volkanovski soon enough.

Conclusion

That was the penultimate UFC event on Fight Island. The last one is concluding this week and it`s probably going to be one of the most anticipated UFC events this year. Khabib faces Justin Gaethje. Give us your thoughts on who is going to win.
