Baseball appears to be quite complex at first glance. Dozens of rules and twisted gaming conditions can confuse those who haven`t yet fallen in love with this sport. Baseball requires quite a tactical mind and a pinch of cunning. It helps baseball players scoring runs and outing the opponents the most unpredictably and spectacularly proving that this sport may be a real deal when it`s played by the real tricksters. Here are some unusual tricks used by baseball players.

Stuck comebacker

This game took place in 1986 when the San Francisco Giants faced the New York Mets. After Terry Mulholland fielded the comebacker from Keith Hernandez, the ball got stuck in his glove. Terry coped with this obstacle creatively. He ran almost the whole way to 1st base and then threw the whole glove with a stuck ball right into Bob Brenly`s hands which led to the out. Nearly the same thing happened to another colorful MLB player. Orlando Hernandez aka El Duque played for the Yankees when they faced the NY Mets in 1999. One more excellent field took place, and one more ball got stuck in the webbing of El Duque`s glove. An extraordinary player made an extraordinary move and threw the whole glove to his teammate Tino Martinez.  Another fascinating move and fascinating out against the Mets, whose shortstop Rey Ordonez retired shortly after this game.

Jose Canseco`s most known homerun

Some people blamed Jose Canseco for using illegal means for enhancing physique, but it just might be jealousy. He was the first in Major Leaguer who hit 40 home runs and stole 40 bases within one season. His most well-known home run didn`t take place as expected. Conseco played for the Texas Rangers during their match against The Indians back in 1988. He was running after the well-landed ball as he neared the fence, the ball had bounced right off his head and fell over the fence, giving the home run to his opponents. This is one of the most well-known tricks that worked not in favor of those who performed it.

Phantom pickoff throw

This is probably the most elegant move possible. It seems quite easy to perform, albeit it wasn`t performed successfully in the MLB. During the College Baseball World Series in 1982, pitcher Mike Kasprzak and his teammates performed one of the most genius performances in baseball history. The Miami Hurricane`s runner, Phil Stevenson, was fooled by the opposite team who faked a pickoff throw which led Stevenson to run to 2nd base. Kasprzak had the ball in his hands this whole time and tossed it to the shortstop Billy Wrona who eventually covered the bag which led to their victory in the end.

Conclusion

We`ve all observed that baseball is not only spectacular but also a tricky game. Guile might be a good solution for the players to win the game. There exist some dirty tricks and some cleaner ones. Sometimes tricks don`t work out at all. That`s why we all love baseball. Cause it`s tempting and unpredictable.
